Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

Stability phenomenon Characterization method Acceleration technology
Sedimentation/creaming Optical scanner, X-ray transmission Centrifugal acceleration (RCA value calculation)
Ostwald ripening Particle size analyzer High temperature aging (Arrhenius equation)
Flocculation/agglomeration Electroacoustic spectrometer Freeze-thaw cycle

Technology evolution background

This standard is equivalent to ISO/TR13097:2013, and for the first time introduces a systematic method for characterizing the stability of dispersed systems into the domestic standardization system. The traditional visual method (5.2.1) is gradually replaced by spatial resolution optical instruments (5.2.2), and the measurement sensitivity is increased by more than 100 times.

Key Terms

Ostwald Ripening: A thermodynamically driven process in which small particles dissolve and deposit on the surface of larger particles, commonly seen in nano-dispersed systems
RCA value: The ratio of centrifugal acceleration to gravitational acceleration, used to quantify the acceleration effect (formula: RCA=rω²/g)

Implementation Suggestions

  1. The new product development phase should adopt a combined verification of the correlation method + direct method (5.3+5.2)
  2. The quality inspection phase recommends the use of Near Infrared Backscattering Instrument for non-destructive testing
  3. Shelf life prediction requires the establishment of an internal acceleration factor database

Industry Application Cases

Cosmetic emulsion: Pass 45℃/3 months accelerated test equivalent to 2 years stability at room temperature, emulsion layer thickness needs to be <5% of initial height

Pesticide suspension: Use ASTM D6930 method to evaluate sedimentation stability, centrifugal RCA value is set to 2000
