Introduction
Core changes in the standard revision
| Revision items | 2015 version | 2021 version | Technical impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Requirements for thermometers | General requirements are not clarified | Added clause 4.1.3.2 | Specifies the conformity verification of JJG130-2011 |
| Heating device | Only describes the basic structure | Clarifies the requirements for electronic controllers | Improves the temperature control accuracy by ±0.5℃ |
| Calculation method | Rounding rules are not specified | GB/T8170-2008 is cited | Uniform data report format |
Key instrument technical specifications
Capillary must meet the following requirements: hard No. 11 glass tube with inner diameter of 0.9-1.1mm and wall thickness of 0.10-0.15mm, and the sealing must be treated with low temperature of alcohol lamp.
Melting point tester should meet the accuracy requirements of JJG701-2008 0.2 level, and the heating rate of the metal block heating system should be stable at 1.0℃/min±0.1.
Analysis of key points of operation
4.1.5.1 Sample preparation
- Grinding particle size: fine powder that can pass through a 100-mesh sieve
- Packing density: free fall compaction 10-15 times to form a 3-4mm dense column
- Drying treatment: vacuum drying or oven drying is selected according to product characteristics
4.1.5.3 Observation specification
Initial melting point judgment standard: record the temperature when the first independent droplet appears in the capillary and there is a clear phase interface with the solid phase. The final melting point should be the temperature value at the moment when the last solid particle disappears.
Implementation Suggestions
Laboratory Configuration Plan
| Equipment Type | Recommended Model | Accuracy Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Total Immersion Thermometer | WNG-11 Model | ±0.1℃ |
| Melting Point Apparatus | X-6 Micro Melting Point Apparatus | Grade 0.2 |
Common Problem Solving
Selection of Heat Transfer Medium: For samples above 200℃, dimethyl silicone oil DC704 is recommended. Its thermal stability is better than concentrated sulfuric acid and there is no oxidation risk.
Temperature calibration: The fully immersed thermometer needs to be calibrated according to formulas (1)-(3). It is recommended to establish a daily calibration record sheet.
Standard Evolution Analysis
This standard has been revised four times since its first release in 1980. The 2021 version mainly reflects:
- Method expansion: The capillary melting point method is added as an optional solution
- Safety specifications: Experimental operation warning clauses are added
- Digital adaptation: The technical requirements for electronically controlled heating devices are clarified
This standard is coordinated with ISO11357-3:2018 "Plastics Differential Scanning Calorimetry" in the definition of melting range, but special requirements for capillary visual observation are added for the characteristics of dye intermediates.
