Key technical requirements

Test equipment:Must be made of glass, PTFE or special stainless steel, the working space volume is recommended to be ≥0.1m³, and the weight gain deviation of the copper sample must be controlled within 15% of the average value.

Severity level:Determined by test method selection (4 methods) and exposure time (4~21 days), with 4d/7d/10d/14d/21d as the five time nodes.


Key points for implementation

There are two test procedures: Procedure 1 is applicable to non-chlorine-free gas, and Procedure 2 is applicable to chlorine-containing gas. Strict unpacking restrictions:

  • <4 days: no unpacking
  • 4-10 days: once allowed
  • >10 days: once a week
Special attention should be paid to the "memory effect" of the chlorine-containing test, and the relevant equipment should be dedicated.


Differences between the old and new standards

Main changes in the 2020 version:

  1. The weight gain range of copper sheet in Method 2 is adjusted from 0.3~1.0 to 0.3~1.3
  2. New temperature and humidity negotiation clauses
  3. The exposure time of copper sheet is changed to the first 4 days and an additional 4 days
  4. Strengthen the spacing requirements of specimens (≥10mm)
