Scope

This document describes the principle of gas chromatography for the determination of trace amounts of hydrogen, oxygen, methane, and carbon monoxide in inert gases using a zirconium oxide detector. It also specifies the test conditions, reagents and materials, instrumentation, samples, test procedures, data processing, precision and measurement uncertainty, quality control and assurance, and test reporting requirements. This document is applicable to the determination of trace amounts of hydrogen, oxygen, methane, and carbon monoxide in nitrogen, helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon. The measurement range is (0.05–20) × 10⁻⁶ (molar fraction).
