Key technical requirements

Typical application case

In a 750kV smart substation, the line protection device receives the SV data of the merging unit through the dual AD sampling system. When it detects that the difference between the dual AD data is greater than 2.5%, the differential protection is automatically locked and the "sampling abnormality" alarm signal is triggered.

This standard specifies for the first time the requirements for virtual terminal mapping, maintenance mechanism, and network adaptability of intelligent station protection devices, promoting the transformation of relay protection from hardware-dependent to software-defined. The 2020 revision adds test requirements for 5G communication interfaces.
