Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 36607-2018 "Ergonomics of vehicle driver's head position" standard aims to optimize the ergonomic performance of vehicle design and ensure the comfort and safety of drivers under different seat travels. This standard is based on the eye ellipse model and head envelope analysis, combined with actual application cases, to provide a scientific basis for the body space design of M1 vehicles.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T 36607—2018 International reference standards (such as SAE J1052)
Scope of application M1 vehicles, seat travel ≥133mm Motor vehicles and passenger head position
Core indicators Head contour envelope axis length, inclination and center position Eye ellipse and head contour geometry
Technical requirements 95% head position statistical model 95th percentile head position modeling

3. Implementation suggestions and practical applications

Implementation suggestions:

  • According to the standard requirements, ensure that vehicles with seat travel ≥133mm meet the head contour envelope size.
  • Locate the head contour envelope center according to the eyellipse model, and refer to the relative distance data in Table 2.
  • Create a 23mm wide extension area in the outer section to avoid the risk of 5% of the population's head hitting the top of the head.

Actual case:

When designing a new SUV, an automobile manufacturer adjusted the driver's seat height and backrest angle with reference to this standard. Through 3D scanning testing, it was verified that the head position of 95% of the drivers met the head contour envelope requirements, and appropriate gaps were left to ensure comfort.
