Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

Measurement parameters Class C environmental requirements Class S environmental requirements Key differences
Air temperature ±0.5℃ ±(0.5+0.04|ta|)℃ Temperature deviation compensation is required in extreme environments
Average radiant temperature ±2℃ ±(5+0.08|tr-50|)℃ Greater error is allowed in high temperature conditions
Air velocity ±(0.05+0.07va)m/s ±(0.1+0.05va)m/s Relaxed accuracy in turbulent environment

Instrument Selection Guide

Application of black ball thermometer

The standard recommends using a black ball thermometer with a diameter of 150mm to measure the average radiation temperature. The heat balance equation is:

εσ(Tr4-Tg4)+hcg(Ta-Tg)=0

The calculation formula for the hcg forced convection coefficient is 6.3(va0.6/D0.4). Please note the impact of diameter changes on the measurement results (see Appendix B).

Key points for implementation

  1. Spatial layout:According to the requirements of Table 5, the measurement height for standing working conditions should be 1.1m (abdomen) and 1.7m (head)
  2. Response time:The black ball thermometer takes 20-30 minutes to reach thermal equilibrium. Continuous recording is recommended
  3. Error control:The dry-bulb and wet-bulb hygrometers must ensure a wind speed of ≥4m/s, and the wet-bulb cotton core should extend 20mm beyond the sensor

Technical evolution analysis

This standard first adopted ISO7726 in 1998. The main updates of the 2021 version are:

  • Add measurement requirements for asymmetric plane radiation temperature
  • Refine the measurement tolerance for extreme environments (Class S)
  • Supplement the surface emissivity correction method for infrared thermometers
