Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

GB/T6328-2021 is an important standard for testing the mechanical properties of adhesives. It mainly regulates the pendulum impact tester test method for metal-metal, plastic-plastic and metal-plastic adhesives. The standard clearly requires that the impact speed be 3.4m/s and the specimen size must ensure that the impact surface is a 25mm×45mm plane.

Typical application case

The test of an automotive epoxy structural adhesive showed that when the bonding area was 625mm², the average impact strength reached 8500J/m², and the failure type was 90% cohesive failure + 10% interface failure, which met the verification requirements of ISO9653:1998.

Calculation formula

Shear impact strength σ=F/S, where:

  • F: impact failure energy (J), accurate to ±1%
  • S: bonding area (m²), measurement accuracy ±0.1mm

Standard implementation recommendations

  1. Equipment calibration: The pendulum speed needs to be calibrated with a photoelectric tachometer every quarter
  2. Specimen preparation: Plastic specimens should be conditioned at 23℃/50%RH for more than 40h
  3. Data recording: It is recommended to use an electronic recorder to automatically collect impact energy data

Precautions for the transition period between the old and new standards

Test reports completed before March 1, 2022 can still use GB/T6328-1999, but must note "does not include plastic sample data". After the transition period, all certification tests must use the new version of the standard.
