Key Technical Points

1. Leakage Control Model

The elastic-plastic gasket behavior model is adopted to quantify the leakage rate through the effective gasket width bGe and the creep coefficient PΦQR:

  • Gasket stress range: Qmin(L)≤Q≤Qmax
  • Iterative algorithm is used to determine bGe (Equations 38-41)

2. Mechanical Parameter Calculation

Typical flange type processing:

The integral flange is modeled as an equivalent circular ring (Equation 5), and the blind flange considers the diameter ratio of ρ=dg/dE (Equation 28)


Implementation suggestions

  1. Preferably use torque wrench for assembly (Appendix A) to control ε± dispersion
  2. Cyclic load conditions need to verify that ΦF≤0.8 (Formula 70)
  3. Metal gaskets are recommended to have c1=1/20 (Formula 72a)

Standard evolution analysis

Main improvements of the 2018 version:
1. Add Calculation of internal forces in joints (Chapter 7)
2. Introduce EN13555 gasket test specifications
3. Supplement the metric bolt size table (Appendix G)
