Scope

This document specifies the principles, general requirements, testing equipment, specimens, testing methods, result determination, and test reporting for ultrasonic testing using electromagnetic ultrasonic transducers (EMAT). This document applies to thickness measurement and surface testing of materials (including ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic metals) using electromagnetic sound waves. Testing using other wave types should refer to this document.
