Introduction

Interpretation of GB/T5550-2016 Surfactant Dispersion Force Determination Method

Standard Development Background and Technological Evolution

The GB/T5550 standard was first published in 1980 and has undergone several revisions. The latest version was implemented in 2016. This version of the standard mainly adds the following:

  • Normative references GB/T6372
  • Test report requirements
  • More accurate dispersion force calculation method
Standard version Release year Main changes
GB/T5550-1980 1980 Basic version, does not include subsequent technical improvements
GB/T5550-1990 1990 Added some experimental conditions details
GB/T5550-1998 1998 First introduction of the percentage calculation method of dispersion force
GB/T5550-2016 2016 Add normative references and test report requirements

Principle and method of dispersion force determination

The dispersion force determination is based on the rapid addition of sulfuric acid to form an insoluble azo dye in the fast pigment red 3RS solution, and the dispersion ability is evaluated by the diffusion circle area of filter paper.

  • Magnetic stirrer
  • Volume flask(500mL)
  • Stopwatch(range 1s~10h)
  • Dispersion force tester

Implementation Recommendations

To ensure the accuracy of experimental results, it is recommended that:

  • Prepare reagents and solutions in strict accordance with standard requirements
  • Calibrate instruments and equipment regularly
  • Operators must receive professional training
  • Maintain stable laboratory environmental conditions
