1 Scope

This standard specifies the method for inspection of bacillus subtilis in feeds.

This standard is applicable to the determination and counting of bacillus subtilis in feeds.

3 Diluent, medium and reagent

Unless otherwise specified, only the recognized analytical reagents shall be used during the analysis, and distilled water or deionized water or water with equivalent purity shall be used as laboratory water.

3.1 0.85% sterilized normal saline.

3.2 Nutrient agar (NA) medium: see A.1 of Annex A.

3.3 Gram staining solution: see A.2 of Annex A.

3.4 Medium for growing in 7% sodium chloride solution: see A.3 of Annex A.

3.5 Medium and reagent for V-P determination: see A.4 of Annex A.

3.6 Medium and reagent for nitrate reduction: see A.5 of Annex A.

3.7 Medium for D-mannitol fermentation: see A.6 of Annex A.
