《GB/T 16258-2008棉纤维 含糖试验方法 定量法》由424-fibre（中国纤维检验局）归口，主管部门为国家市场监督管理总局。
本标准于１９９６年首次发布，本次为第一次修订。本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ１６２５８―１９９６《棉纤维含糖试验方法　定量法》。本标准规定了用３,５-二羟基甲苯-硫酸溶液作显色剂，使用分光光度计定量测定棉花所含总糖的测定方法。本标准适用于原棉、棉条、棉卷等。 本标准与ＧＢ／Ｔ１６２５８―１９９６相比，主要变化如下：
ａ）　增加了警示内容；
ｂ）　修改了第１章“范围”的内容；
ｃ）　修改了规范性引用文件，并增加了引用标准；
ｄ）　增加了真空抽滤设备和烘箱；
ｅ）　对第７章“样品的制备”增加了棉样的贮存说明，并对内容进行了修改；
ｆ）　增加了回潮率的测试，按公定回潮率折算含糖率作为试验结果；
ｇ）　调整与修改了第８章“试验步骤”的内容；
ｈ）　修改了计算公式；
ｉ）　删除了回收率；
ｊ）　删除了附录Ａ。
