Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the handling and storage containers of samples for surface chemical analysis. This standard is intended for users of surface chemistry analysis equipment to understand special sample handling requirements for surface chemistry analysis techniques, in particular Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS or ESCA) . This standard is also applicable to other analytical techniques that are sensitive to surface composition, such as TXRF. For specific instances, specific samples, more attention is required.
