Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

This standard establishes a complete database of microscopic characteristics of feed raw materials, including the typical structural characteristics of 237 common raw materials such as barley and corn at 15×-400× magnification, and focuses on standardizing the following technical elements:

Technical dimensions Requirements of this standard Traditional detection methods
Sample preparation Strictly follow GB/T 14698 Inconsistent methods
Feature identification Establish a cell morphology database Experience-based judgment
Adulteration identification 27 typical adulteration case maps Lack of systematic reference

Key technology breakthroughs

Typical application case: Fish meal adulteration identification

Figure 205-233 in the standard systematically shows the microscopic characteristics of 12 common adulterants such as fish meal adulterated with shrimp shell powder and rice husk powder:

  • Lignin dyeing technology: Rice husk powder is dyed red (Figure 220)
  • Defatting method: Urea-formaldehyde polymers can be clearly displayed (Figure 223)
  • Characteristic structure comparison: Transparent small bubble characteristics of leather protein powder (Figure 233)

Suggestions for standard implementation

  1. Laboratories should be equipped with an optical microscope with a magnification of at least 400 times and a supporting imaging system
  2. Establish a typical sample library and conduct personnel comparison tests regularly
  3. Batch testing of high-value raw materials such as soybean meal and fish meal
  4. Combining near-infrared technology to form a double verification mechanism

Technology evolution analysis

Compared with the 2003 version of the "Microscopic Examination Method for Feeds", this standard has achieved three major upgrades:

  • The number of maps increased from 82 to 237
  • Added special technologies for dyeing identification and defatting
  • Established a correspondence map between raw materials and adulterants (e.g. wheat bran mixed with corncob powder Figure 40)
