Introduction
Analysis of the core content of the standard
| Technical elements | 2014 version | Main changes in the 2020 version |
|---|---|---|
| Sampling method | Not distinguishing between bulk/packaged | Added alternative Bulk grain and oilseeds |
| Minimum sample size | Fixed value requirement | 95% passing particle size classification requirement (0.05-15kg) |
| Sample preparation process | Single path | Increase the step-by-step granularity reduction method |
Key technical points
Sampling representativeness control
The standard requires that the number of samples for uneven batches be ≥100 and for uniform batches be ≥50. Taking corn testing as an example, when the GMO limit is 0.1%:
- 456kg of original samples (1.6 million kernels) are required for non-uniform batches
- 159.6kg (560,000 kernels) are required for uniform batches
Application scenarios of alternative methods
Newly added Chapter 9 stipulates: When the GMO limit is ≥0.1%, a simplified process can be used for bulk cargoes:
- The delivery batch is not processed in batches
- Select the number of incremental samples according to particle size (50-120)
- The minimum sample retention for the laboratory is 2-200kg
Suggestions for the implementation of the standard
Equipment selection requirements
Required equipment:
- Mechanical sampler with adjustable sampling frequency
- Grinding equipment below 100 mesh
- DNA destruction agent treatment system
Key points of quality control
| Cross contamination prevention and control | Use disposable containers and clean at intervals |
| Particle size verification | Each batch of samples needs to be tested for 95% pass rate |
